When Hermann Waldner opened a plumber’s workshop in Wangen im Allgäu in 1908, nobody suspected that it would develop into one of the largest companies in the region with more than 1,000 employees around the globe, two national and seven international subsidiaries and a worldwide distribution network. This development involved a typical product from the Allgäu region – milk.
As early as the 1930s, Waldner products were well known in the German milk and cheese-making industry. This development continued at a rapid pace after the Second World War with a large number of innovative machines and plants for milk and food processing. Anton Waldner actively supported his father with innovative business ideas. For example, Waldner supplied the first laboratory bench to the local dairy school in 1950, which was ultimately the birth of laboratory production.
Today, the WALDNER Group, under the umbrella of WALDNER Holding GmbH & Co. KG, consists of Hermann WALDNER GmbH & Co. KG, WALDNER Laboreinrichtungen GmbH & Co. KG and WALDNER Labor- und Schuleinrichtungen GmbH.
The company from Wangen supplies its products to customers all over the world. Novartis in Singapore, for example, researches new active ingredients against tropical diseases in a laboratory equipped by Waldner. DOSOMAT packaging machines from Wangen pack coffee for Kraft Foods on 48 production lines worldwide and schoolchildren in Shanghai learn about chemical reactions in a chemistry lab equipped by Waldner.
In September of this year, the anniversary will be celebrated at Waldner with various events. Open day, for example, has already been fixed for September 20.
